Published in 2022, Accumulation explores how art, architecture, and visual media help us understand and represent the climate crisis. Edited by Nick Axel, Daniel A. Barber, Nikolaus Hirsch, and Anton Vidokle, the book brings together essays by theorists and artists who address the concept of “accumulation”—of carbon, materials, images, and capital—as a driving force behind climate change. Through diverse perspectives, it argues that visualizing climate is not only an aesthetic challenge but a political necessity: what cannot be seen cannot be changed. This is a key work for rethinking the role of visual culture in the age of the Anthropocene.
