On Wednesday, October 1st, 2025, at 6:00 PM, the presentation of the book Cultural Atlas of Energy<\/em> (Catarata, 2025) will take place, with the presence of the editors and some of the authors. The event will be held at the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology at UCM, in the newly inaugurated \u201cPiano Zone.\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\r\n In a context shaped by the climate emergency, this Cultural Atlas of Energy offers a revealing look at the complex relationships between energy, culture, and politics. The various concepts explored in the book examine how fossil energy\u2014 a fundamental driver of industrial societies\u2014has influenced not only material development but also the imaginaries and discourses that have shaped our understanding of progress, freedom, and well-being. The book analyzes the socio-ecological implications of the energy transition and challenges the reductionist approaches that dominate the current debate. With a critical stance toward technocracy and energy determinism, it invites readers to rethink the interactions between the natural and the cultural, granting a decisive and transformative role to imaginaries. This atlas is thus presented as a tool to understand the dilemmas of the ecosocial transition from the perspective of energy humanities, contributing to a rethinking of the relationship between power systems and energy. From this perspective, it advocates for the need to understand energy not just as a resource, but as an aesthetic, cultural, and political dimension that has shaped the world as we know it. We hope to create a welcoming space for exchange and debate.
