Reviews in Cultural Theory: Energy Humanities

The collection of essays in this special issue of Reviews in Cultural Theory–Energy Humanities, edited by Jeff Diamanti and Ryan Bellamy, were first presented at the annual meeting of the Modern Languages Association in Vancouver in 2015. They were sparked by what a vast and diverse group of scholars have labelled Energy Humanities since the inaugural Petrocultures conference in 2012. Each contribution provides a window into the state of the art and what is being done in the field, suggesting improvements and developments for it while arguing the significance and uniqueness of the humanities to understand the interrelation between energy, ecology, and economy. These are important essays for exploring Energy Humanities’ capabilities to transform cultural thought and draft potential alternatives.
