Materialism and the Critique of Energy, edited by Jeff Diamanti and Brent Ryan Bellamy, gathers twenty-one multidisciplinary theorists to rethink and elaborate a materialism critical of the impact that large-scale energy has on the economy, politics, culture, and environment of our social life. From Marxist-feminism to “electroculture, from energy-critique analysis to the historical role of Indigenous peoples in extractivism, the book explore the crossroads of history, culture, new materialism, and energy humanities. By doing so, Materialism and the Critique of Energy serves to rethink the intertwined relationship between fossil fuels and capital throughout history – as it has shaped the fossil regime and its dominating culture –, as well as to explore the necessary alternatives to that link.
