Maó, Menorca. May 4-6
Coordinated by Marta Jordi (IME), Ximo Guillermo (IILP-UV), Manuel Rodríguez (ERISOST-IILP), José Ramón Bertomeu (IILP-UV) and Iván Murray (UIB).
Co-organized by the Catalan Society for the History of Science and Technology, the Menorcan Institute of Studies, the Interuniversity Institute López Piñero-University of Valencia and the University of the Balearic Islands, with the support of the Menorca Biosphere Reserve Agency.
The European Spring School of History of Science and Dissemination is a joint initiative between the Catalan Society for the History of Science and Technology and the Menorcan Institute of Studies that has been held every two years since 2001, to discuss current issues in the history of science and technology and to do so by promoting dialogue between teachers and young researchers in a convivial atmosphere.
The theme chosen for this edition is an absolutely topical issue, linked to the growing social urgency to address the serious global climate crisis. Given that the problem knows no disciplinary boundaries, an edition of a markedly interdisciplinary character is proposed, which allows us to think, both in terms of past and present, the necessary ecological transition.
This year the School is open to everyone free of charge, with the aim of bringing together representatives from the academic world as well as social agents from different territories. As in previous editions, contributions from both experienced and novice researchers will be encouraged, in a training and discussion project that is expected to have a relevant impact on ongoing research and the development of new initiatives outside the academic world. More specifically, we will have approaches to the subject from economics, philosophy, sociology, political ecology, pedagogy, history, documentation and activism.
The Fossil Aesthetics project will be present at the Escola with the participation of Alberto Berzosa with a paper entitled “Materials for an ecological utopia: archives and memory”. You can access the full program here.
